I am an environmental and social documentary photographer with a particular interest in landscape and portraiture. I have lived for many years in the Yorkshire Dales but as a keen mountaineer I regularly visit remote wilderness areas worldwide and I have a particular interest in recording culture through my images of people and their environment.
Prior to this I was a Research Engineer in Power Control Systems for thirteen years before becoming the Managing Director and founder of ICIS Technology. The company achieved over the next fourteen years an average year on year growth rate of 40% when in 2003 with over 150 staff mainly highly trained engineers and software professionals the company was sold to Siemens where I worked for an additional three years before retiring from engineering.
I resumed my climbing and expedition work and also my landscape photography visiting the Caucasus, Patagonia, Africa and Nepal. A few years ago I enrolled as a photography student and completed a course of study leading to a Foundation Degree in Lens based Photo Media followed by a Masters degree in Image and Time based Media. My present projects are centered on the social and environmental impact of global business practices including wilderness tourism and the legacy of industrial operations in these regions.
